VOICA Canossian International Voluntary Service
is more than a voluntary program; it is an opportunity to grow and live in your faith as you share your gifts with others.
is an expression of the greatest love contemplated and actualized by St. Magdalene of Canossa. It is a program of volunteer service promoted by the Canossian Sisters for those most in need in all corners of the world.
volunteers live in solidarity with their communities and with the people whom they serve. They strive to lead a simple, humble life that reflects the standard of living and the customs of the local community.
VOICA emphasizes four pillars:
Spirituality: The Canossian spirituality provides us with the fundamental attitude of service.
Formation: It provides volunteers with the tools needed to adapt to the missionary lifestyle, to grow in their journeys, to live in community life and to serve the needy.
Community: It helps volunteers mature and gives them the support they need to serve to the best of their abilities.
Service: It provides volunteers with valuable opportunity to get in touch with life and to enrich their spiritual life.
Education: In keeping with St. Magdalene’s initial goal to develop and form the poor through education, the Canossian community operates schools and learning centers at its missions around the world.
Medical: St. Magdalene also advocated care for the sick and health services for the needy.
Pastoral Care: As missionaries, through pastoral care, we provide a variety of services according to the needs of the community.
